You will need rubbing alcohol, soap (preferably a bong cleaner solution, but dish soap will do fine), a plastic container, a pipe-cleaning apparatus like a sponge or brush, a few Q-tips, and some salt.

 

Once you have gathered everything, you can proceed with the chore of cleaning out the bong.

 

Step 1. Pour out the old water

 

To begin, you will need to get rid of the old water sitting in the bong. Understandably, some might get lazy from doing so, but this actually should be done after each session. Once the bong is empty of all the liquids, then you can continue to the next step.

 

Step 2. Pour in the cleaning solution

 

With an empty bong in your hands, pour in the cleaning solution inside and give it a thorough shake. Ensure that the insides are coated thoroughly to allow the solution to attack as many build-ups as possible for a cleaner finish. Once you are done swirling up the solution, rinse it thoroughly to remove the excess solution and dirt.

 

Step 3. Dismantle the bong and soak 

 

With the first stage of cleaning down, dismantle the bong into its pieces. For the small parts, rinse it with some hot water, and store them into plastic containers. Pour in a mized solution composed of alcohol, salt, and some dish soap to remove any left-over resin.

 

As for bigger parts, you can pour that same mixture inside and shake it thoroughly while having all its holes covered. You can add more of the solution if needed. The pipe-cleaning apparatus will come in handy with the tougher stains—but be careful not to break your bong. Once you’ve cleaned it out sufficiently, rinse everything once again with clean water.

 

Step 4. Repeat step 3 if necessary

 

If you find that some of your bong's parts still have some leftover residue, then repeat step three. Keep at it until the bong is completely clean, after which you can thoroughly dry and reassemble the whole thing.
